Nexus: Empowering Communities Through STEM
Nexus is a groundbreaking program designed to bridge the gap between STEM education and real-world application by connecting students with local small businesses through hands-on projects.
Our initiative aims to foster a vibrant learning ecosystem in Falls Church by engaging students in practical STEM projects that address community needs while supporting local enterprises. This approach not only enriches the educational experience but also strengthens community ties and promotes economic development.
Introduction
Falls Church, a thriving urban village with a population of nearly 14,000, is renowned for its high-quality customer service, environmental activism, and exceptional school system. The city's five public schools serve approximately 2,628 students, and over 300 local businesses
are contributing to its dynamic economy. Nexus leverages this unique community landscape to create a collaborative learning environment where students tackle real-world problems through STEM projects, benefiting both their education and the local economy.
Inspired by Education Reimagined we aim to
"weave together with the community, learning ecosystems that extend beyond the walls of the
classroom and nurture each learner as an individual who is seen, loved,
and supported to build a future of their own choosing."
